Southside vs. Bob Harris (BBC Radio2)

BBC Radio2“Presenting some of the best music you’ve never heard, including an eclectic mix of exciting new tracks featuring the best of Americana, Alt Country, Indie, World, Nu-Folk and Blues. As someone said to Bob in New Orleans recently – “music is all around, all you have to do is listen”. This could be the motto of the show.” – that is what the BBC2 Website says about the Bob Harris Show on BBC Radio 2.

Now, there would be much more to say about Bob Harris. But maybe just the fact that he has been nominated the worlds’ best radio DJ numerous time is ’nuff said.

His show runs on Saturdays 23:00 – 02:00 GMT, the taped appearance of Southside Johnny is supposed to run after midnight. But don’t rely on that and tune in on BBC Radio 2 or via online live-stream next Saturday night (29.November 08) !

The show will then be available on the website’s “LISTEN AGAIN” feature for another week after the initial broadcast. Unfortunately, there’s no archive of the Bob Harris shows, so after the week is over, the show will be gone!

Southside vs. Paul Jones – BBC Radio2 (Audio)

BBC Radio2Here’s something, which I missed, when it went on air, but our exclusive correspondent for all things British radio, Maggie Powell, reminded me via our JUKESVILLE forum.

Every Monday evening BBC Radio 2 host Paul Jones (ex Manfred Man’s Earthband, The Blues Band and President of the The British National Harmonica League), administers a weekly dose of Rhythm and Blues, combining classics, new releases, specially recorded sessions, and the occasional interview…

Broadcasted on October 27th, Southside Johnny gave a long interview about “Grapefruit Moon”, Tom Waits and all things Jukes during the London stay on their recent UK tour. Now the interview is streamed in full length on BBC2′s website. Though it’s missing the music tracks, just listening to John’s voice is priceless enough!

Click the RADIO STREAM LINK for the interview in real-audio.

Thank’s a lot, Maggie!

Bandiera vs. Tyley (BFBS Radio2)

news_bfbs_radio2_logoBFBS Radio 2 – Marc Tyley’s – CLASSIC ROCK
Bobby Bandiera – World Exclusive – Saturday 28 October

“Once again we showcase one of the many great talents to come out of New Jersey. He’s a superb guitarist who is equally at home in the Bon Jovi touring line up, playing on stage in front of 70,000 adoring fans, as he is in a packed and smoky club venue in Amsterdam, really letting rip with Southside Johnny and the Asbury JUKES. He is also a fine solo artist in his own right; he is Bobby Bandiera.”

(sound of pool balls clacking away in the background)

Marc: Now, nine o’clock in the morning, there I am in a German hotel/country club and ready to meet Bobby Bandiera, one of the finest guitarists to come out of New Jersey. and what do I find? He’s already up, he’s had breakfast and he’s playing pool. now THAT’S rock and roll! He’s just finished a massive world tour playing with Bon Jovi and now he’s back on the road with Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes. so how does he get his head around these crazy changes of life style.

Bobby: At the beginning of the day it’s what I do. in the middle of the day it’s what I do and at the end of the day it’s what I do. whether it’s on stage in front of 20,000 or 70,000 people with Bon Jovi, or small clubs that I do with Southside, or on my own. I bumped into Dave Edmunds while I was in London and there’s a possibility that I may come over and do a month this coming year with him. so we’ll see how that goes. but it’s just a great thing to be working and making a living at playing music, as I’ve always done, and hopefully it’ll go for the next fifteen years or so or, whatever I have left in life.
