Where The Jukes Fans Are... (Almost) Everywhere...!

This might be off-topic, or not… whatever! What you see on the Google Map above is the ASBURYJUKES.NET visitor log of the last 48 hours. It ain’t accurate, because it doesn’t show the “real” user location but only where the respective IP-address is registered, but it should be amazing enough to have Bill thinking about a tour to Australasia… Alaska… or the midst of the Atlantic Ocean. (The last one really leaves me wondering…)

Now, we're engaged - or something like that... (Bospop, Weert, NL)

Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes, Bospop Festival, Weert, The Netherlands, June 10. 2010

Well…, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes have changed my live in so many ways… I thought, this show would be the appropriate intimate (with just approximately 30.000 close friends in the audience) event to propose to my lady. And I did… somehow! While the titanium-rings were burning holes in my pockets, the lady was too busy taking these pictures, just so you can enjoy them here. While I was standing to the left of The Prinz, Eddie Manion was blowing his heart out…

If I give you my heart, will you love me forever…?

WHAT A DAY! THANK YOU ALL!!!

(Hi to Maggie, Marc, Liz & Cavi!)

Southside Johnny & Billy Walton

The man in question is John Lyon, or Southside Johnny, and he’s aided and abetted by the Asbury Jukes. The band, with many personnel changes, have been around for 35 years with a current line-up which has been fairly stable for the last 10 years (stick with me, it’s all relevant).

Best of YouTube: Amsterdam & Den Haag (2009)

YouTube is the never ending source of joy and fun in all terms Asbury Jukes. Specially whenever they get themselves over the pond to Europe, in this case: Holland. What have we all been doing, before digital video cameras became available to Jukes Fans? The wonderful BOCCISON posted these gems just a few days ago:

See how Johnny lets the band get loose and himself behind John Conte’s Bass in Amsterdam’s Paradiso:

(Land of the 1000 Dances – Paradiso, Amsterdam, 30. October 2009)

I have see all shows (but one) in Amsterdam in this century. But I truly have never been seeing something like the 1000 Dances this time around!

And just a day later, not only did the Kingfish arrive at Schipol and reunited with the band…

The Globe, Cardiff, Wales, UK (2009)

By Paul S from Cardiff – November 2, 2009, The Globe, Cardiff

Either I’d forgotten just how good a Southside Johnny gig can be or he got even better! There were a few changes from the last time I saw Southside: a little more facial hair, the trademark shades being discarded early on, and the ever changing line up of the Asbury Jukes.

But much remained the same, including great musicianship from the eight strong backing band, featuring a strong horns section (sometimes reminiscent of the Memphis Horns sound), keyboards, drums, lead and bass guitars.
