All my thoughts are with Kevin’s family and friends.
As a husband, father, friend and a wonderful artist – Kevin will be missed.
Forever a Juke!
It’s been a long time since we laughed together
It’s been a long time since we cried
Raise your glass for the comrades we’ve lost
My friend it’s been a long, long time…
(Lyrics: Steven van Zandt)
It’s been five years since one of this author’s all time favorite British band’s last album. It’s been even more since this author has last seen a show of the same band.
The band with one of the best band names in the history of band names: THE BLUES BAND
Formed in 1979 by ex-Manfred Mann group members Paul Jones and Tom McGuiness, originally to play a few pub gigs, they are still going strong 18 albums/CDs later.
And there is a new album coming, “Scratchin’ On My Screen – An Album of Acoustic Blues Music”, which is now scheduled for August 16th on amazon.com.
The band announced on their forum: “We have some great guests on the record including Al Kooper, Southside Johnny, Maggie Bell, Mike Sanchez and possibly Bernie Marsden. Hopefully you will consider it worth waiting for when it finally sees the light of day which we hope will be in the autumn.”

It’s been a while, since I found that brown envelope in my mail. A very thoughtful friend over in NYC got me the debut record of a young, promising, talent, singer, songwriter and pianist… That’s been 1999, when this talent was about to join that band from across the river… a move which should make the young Kentuckian an honorary citizen of the great state of New Jersey – which has been made official and permanent just shortly after. Although he pretends to be still living in the city today – truth is, that he’s been living in recording studios of all kinds and on stages of all sizes ever since. Backing the greatest bar-band of all times and today’s biggest all American arena act (also from the neighborhood), jamming in the smallest hole in the wall and on (Inter)National TV. This Wizard of social media & Key Master of Cool is Mr. Jeff Kazee. And the record in that brown envelope has been No River, his debut as a solo recording artist.

Now this week, the South made a statement which did put us in full excitement mode…:

Welcome back to ASBURYJUKES.NET 3.0 – Your old fashioned fan page for an old-fashioned band and it’s old-fashioned lead singer!
Almost a year ago, this webmaster declared his retirement. And now this very website celebrates what Southside & Jukes Fans know a lot about:
WTF?!? – WE’RE COMING BACK!
In the times of Twitter and Facebook, “Community” is the keyword which excites huge international corporations and stock-markets. While the JUKES FAN Community has been exiting me for almost 30 years, the whole cyber-friendship-advertising stuff at the price of giving up privacy and disclosing personal data to venture-capitalist-supertankers did always scare me away… But now I found a way to utilize a social-network and to turn it into the “ASBURYJUKES.NET Declaration of Independence”. As Southside needs no record company, we don’t need no Facebook. We do it ourselves AND we are on the F-Book =;-)
You are now invited to join our open network and to make it into something special – YOUR MOST EXCLUSIVE SOCIAL COMMUNITY ON THE WEB. Exclusive to Jukes, Jukefans, Family & Friends! No Googles, no Murdochs, no Zuckerbergs! Create a profile, invite your friends and be a part of it TODAY!
Your data is protected against any advertisers, there are no corporate interests involved and you are in total control of what and how much of yourself you want to disclose to the world, your friends or just yourself.
The ASBURYJUKES.NET shall now live it’s own life!
